Felini in Singapore: A Small Cat, a Big City, and an Unreasonable Amount of Wonder

Hello. It is me. Felini.
World-traveling cat. Balloon navigator. Professional nap-taker. Accidental cultural ambassador. 🐾🌍

Singapore was one of those places I had circled in my mind with an invisible red pen shaped like a fish. A city of gardens and science, of steel and orchids, of food that smells like it was invented by angels who own woks. I arrived thinking, I will stay a little while.

Singapore laughed softly and said, You will stay longer than planned.

🌺 A Field of Flowers and a Postcard Moment

I landed gently—always gently—among a sea of flowers so bright they looked like they had opinions. 🌸🌼
Behind me, the city rose up like a futuristic fairy tale: sleek towers, impossible shapes, birds wheeling through the air like they had a meeting to attend.

I sat very still in the blossoms. This is important. Stillness, in moments like these, is how you let the magic notice you.

People later said I looked like a postcard.
I think postcards look like me.

🦁 The Merlion Incident (Featuring Fire, Dignity, and Mild Panic)

Singapore has a lion that is also a fish.
I respect this deeply.

At the Merlion, I struck what I believed to be a heroic pose—paw raised, chest out, tail at a confident angle. That’s when the lion started breathing water with enthusiasm. 💦

I waved. The lion sprayed.
I waved harder. The lion sprayed harder.

This was not a fight. This was a misunderstanding between two icons. Eventually, we reached a truce: it continued roaring majestically, and I pretended not to be damp.

History will remember us as equals.

🧋 Bubble Tea: A Short Love Story

After heroics, one must hydrate.

Inside a cozy café, I was handed a cup of bubble tea roughly the size of my head. I sipped. I paused. I sipped again. Somewhere deep inside my soul, a tiny gong sounded. 🧋✨

The pearls bobbed like cheerful tadpoles. The straw made an excellent chew toy. Humans chatted around me, pretending not to be jealous.

Travel tip from Felini:
If a city makes excellent bubble tea, it is probably kind.

🌌 Gardens by the Bay: Hide-and-Seek With the Future

At night, the Gardens by the Bay transform into something between a dream and a science experiment gone right. The Supertrees glowed like they were powered by imagination itself. 🌈🌿

I hid among the glowing structures, peeking out with what I like to call my “Can you spot me?” face.

The gardens whispered. The lights pulsed. I felt very small and very welcome at the same time—a feeling I chase all over the world.

Also, I absolutely won at hide-and-seek. No one found me. Not even the plants.

🌿 Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden: The Art of Doing Absolutely Nothing

The next day, I lounged in Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, which is a place clearly designed by someone who understands joy.

Sunlight filtered through leaves like warm honey. The air smelled green. 🌱
I stretched. I rolled. I stared into space.

Children laughed nearby. Butterflies behaved suspiciously like they were plotting something. I basked.

Sometimes adventure means climbing mountains.
Sometimes it means finding the perfect patch of sun and declaring it yours.

🌊 The Pool That Looked at Me First

Singapore is full of water. Rivers, bays, fountains, infinity pools that pretend to fall into the sky. I respect water deeply—from a distance. So when I found myself standing at the edge of a very shiny pool, overlooking a very impressive skyline, I felt it staring back at me.

The water was calm. Too calm. It reflected the buildings perfectly, as if saying, Come closer, little cat. I have secrets. I leaned in. The water leaned back. We had a moment. My paw hovered dangerously close.

I did not fall in. This is an important part of the story. Instead, I posed heroically, proving that bravery sometimes looks like not jumping, not slipping, and knowing exactly where your paws belong. The city shimmered behind me, the breeze lifted my whiskers, and I thought: Singapore, you are beautiful—but we are still not swimming together. 💦😼

🌸 Botanic Gardens: A Light Jog Through Beauty

Later, I frolicked. Yes—frolicked. This is different from running. Frolicking involves joy, flowers, and the occasional dramatic leap for no reason at all. 🌺🐾

Petals fell. Orchids nodded politely. I chased nothing and everything.

Singapore does not merely plant gardens. It curates feelings. And one of those feelings is: Felini should probably slow down and enjoy this.

I tried. For at least twelve seconds.

🧧 The Lion Dance That Almost Adopted Me (Chinatown)

I was minding my own business in Singapore’s Chinatown—doing very important cultural research, like sniffing red lantern strings and pretending not to be startled by firecrackers—when the street suddenly roared. Not metaphorically. Literally roared. 🦁

Out of the crowd bounced a lion. A very fluffy lion. A lion with enormous eyes, golden fur, and the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for kittens discovering their reflection. It leapt. It shook. It clacked its teeth. The humans cheered. I froze, tail puffed, whiskers vibrating like antennae.

In the provided image, there is a cat named Felini participating in a lion dance event taking place in Singapore's Chinatown. The environment shows various Asian-style decorations and buildings characteristic of a bustling urban neighborhood. Felini can be seen wearing a costume that resembles a traditional Chinese lion head during the performance. Other individuals, possibly performers or spectators, are also present in the image.

The lion noticed me.

Now, when a lion notices you, there are two possible outcomes. One involves running. The other involves destiny. This was destiny. The lion bowed. I bowed back (politely—always polite). For one glorious moment, we danced together: the ancient, powerful lion and me, a small tuxedo cat with excellent rhythm and no idea what was happening. Chinatown smelled like incense, oranges, and excitement—and I felt lucky, brave, and slightly famous. 🧨✨

🦀 The Day I Became a Chef (Geylang, Briefly)

Later, in Geylang, I discovered two universal truths:

  1. Singaporeans take food very seriously.
  2. I look extremely convincing in a chef’s hat. 👨‍🍳🐱

The hat appeared on my head—don’t ask how—and suddenly everyone assumed I knew what I was doing. I stood at a street stall, flames leaping, woks clanging, and before me: chili crab. Red. Glossy. Dramatic. The Beyoncé of seafood dishes.

In the provided image, there's a cat named Felini, who is depicted with a chef hat on while tasting a piece of crab in Geylang, Singapore.

I lifted the crab with great confidence, as if I had cooked this dish many times before (I had not). The crowd watched. I posed. I did not eat it—because I am a civilized cat—but I did present it proudly, like a culinary masterpiece created entirely by vibes and whiskers.

For a moment, I wasn’t just Felini the traveler. I was Felini the Chef. Master of spice. Guardian of flavor. Then someone gently removed the hat and suggested I return to quality control (sniffing). Honestly? Fair. 🍽️✨

🌲 Night Safari: Where the Jungle Watches Back

At night, the jungle wakes up differently.

In the Night Safari, I padded softly through shadowed paths. Deer stood like statues. Owls watched with the calm judgment of librarians. Something rustled. I did not investigate. 😼🌙

The forest felt ancient. Alive. Curious about me.

I realized then that being brave doesn’t always mean charging forward. Sometimes it means walking quietly, listening, and respecting the dark.

Also: I definitely heard something sniff me. I did not look back. This was wise.

🔬 Science Centre Singapore: Do Not Let Cats Near Interactive Displays

Inside the Science Centre, glowing screens hummed with possibility. Lights flashed. Diagrams moved. Knowledge begged to be poked.

I poked it. 🧪💡

Suddenly, I was operating something. Was it a simulation? A reactor? A very advanced laser toy? No one stopped me. This felt concerning.

I learned that science is just curiosity wearing glasses. And that cats, if given access to futuristic interfaces, will absolutely press every button.

For science.

🎈 Goodbye, Singapore (For Now)

When it was time to leave, I rose into the sky in my balloon shaped beautifully like my own head. 🎈😺

Below me, Singapore shimmered—gardens folded into city, city softened by green, people moving with purpose and kindness.

I thought about the flowers. The lion. The tea. The jungle. The lights.

“Thank you,” I said, to no one and everyone.

The city did not answer. It didn’t need to. It had already given me everything.

🐾 Until the Next Landing…

I drifted onward, tail flicking in the breeze, wondering where I might land next.

But one thing was certain:

Singapore will always be the place where I learned that a city can be clever and gentle, futuristic and warm—and that even a small traveling cat can feel at home among giants.

Every adventure is better with friends—like YOU! 🌟 So why not come along for the ride? Climb mountains with me, nap with me on exotic rugs, and just enjoy being with a very photogenic kitty in jaw-dropping locations. 📸✨
