Prologue: A Cat, a Balloon, and a Questionable Sense of Direction
Hello. Hi. Meow. 🐱 It’s me, Felini the cat. Professional napper. Box enthusiast. Accidental world traveler.
If you’re wondering how a small black-and-white cat ended up drifting into Thailand in a hot air balloon on New Year’s Eve, the answer is simple and very scientific:
I’m on a world trip. In my hot air balloon…

One moment I was adjusting my scarf and thinking very deep cat thoughts like “Is that string alive?”, the next moment—WHOOSH—warm air, glowing lights, and a balloon basket that said “Do not let cat steer.”
Too late.
What follows is my travel log. A soft, curious, slightly clumsy account of temples, jungles, markets, friends with whiskers and without, and the gentle feeling of saying goodbye.
It started off in my hometown in Germany, followed by France, England, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Madagascar Tanzania, India, Nepal, China, Japan, Cambodia and now, Thailand:
Please walk with me. Slowly. I get distracted easily.
🎆🎈 Arrival at Wat Arun – New Year’s Eve from the Sky
I arrived in Thailand the only way that feels correct for a traveling cat with big dreams: drifting gently in my hot‑air balloon while fireworks bloomed like giant, colorful fish in the sky. Below me stood Wat Arun, glowing and proud, as if it had dressed up just for the New Year. I waved my tail at the city and thought, Yes. This seems like a good place to land… eventually.

The air smelled like smoke, sweetness, and celebration. Humans cheered, lights sparkled, and my whiskers tingled with excitement. I’d never seen a city celebrate the turning of time so loudly and lovingly. Back home, New Year usually involves naps and maybe a second dinner. This felt… bigger.
As the clock ticked into the new year, I closed my eyes for a moment in the basket. I made a wish — not for treats (okay, maybe a little), but for adventures, kind encounters, and safe landings. Then the balloon drifted onward, and Thailand whispered, Welcome, little cat.
🌸💧 Morning Calm at Wat Arun – Floating Like a Thought
The next morning, everything was quiet again. I found myself resting on a wide, gentle water lily floating beside the temple. The fireworks were gone, replaced by birdsong and soft ripples in the river. My reflection stared back at me, calm and curious, like a cat who had slept very well.

Wat Arun shimmered in the early light, and I tried not to fall in — not because I can’t swim (I can), but because I despise the wetness. The lily leaf rocked gently, and I pretended I was a very important monk cat practicing stillness.
Sometimes traveling isn’t about moving. Sometimes it’s about sitting very still and letting the world move around you. I learned that lesson right there, paws tucked in, tail wrapped neatly, pretending I was part of the scenery.
📸🐱 Wat Benchamabophit – Practicing My Best Pose
Later that day, I arrived at Wat Benchamabophit, the Marble Temple. Everything was white, shiny, and extremely photogenic. Naturally, I sat down and struck my best pose. Head slightly tilted. Eyes wide. Expression: wise but approachable.

People walked past softly, and no one seemed surprised to see a cat sitting there as if he belonged. Maybe I did. Temples, after all, are places for quiet thoughts — and cats are very good at those.
I imagined the marble cooling my paws and thought about all the centuries this place had seen. Kings, monks, travelers… and now me. I hoped the temple didn’t mind a little fur added to its long history.
🏛️🐾 Exploring the Marble Temple – Tiny Paws, Big Respect
Once the posing was done, I decided to explore. I padded carefully along steps and corridors, sniffing corners and listening to echoes. Everything felt calm and balanced, like the temple itself was breathing slowly.

I peeked into shaded areas, wondering how many secrets the walls were keeping. I didn’t scratch anything — I’m a traveler, not a vandal. Also, marble looks terrible with claw marks.
Exploring this place made me feel small in a comforting way. Like being a kitten again, discovering the world one careful step at a time.
🧘♂️🐈 Resting in the Temple Complex – A Pause for Thought
Eventually, I found a quiet spot to sit and simply be. The temple grounds hummed with a peaceful energy, and I let it soak into my fur.

I watched people pass, each carrying their own stories. Some looked happy, some thoughtful, some tired. I wished I could curl up next to all of them and purr reassurance into their days.
Traveling teaches you many things. One of them is when to stop moving and just listen.
Bangkok Street Markets – Mango Mission 🥭😼
Then came the markets. Oh. My. Whiskers.
Colors everywhere. Sounds everywhere. Smells that made my nose do backflips. I spotted a mango — round, golden, perfect — and gently claimed it with my paw. For you, of course. I wouldn’t eat it. Probably.

Vendors laughed, people smiled, and the mango glowed like a trophy. This was my kind of place: busy, joyful, slightly chaotic, and full of snacks.
🌸 The Fruit Section & the Sudden Fish Situation
I was still emotionally processing the mango when something extraordinary happened.
A smell.

Not just any smell — a fishy smell. Deep. Salty. Promising. My ears rotated independently, my nose activated fully, and my entire body leaned toward destiny.
The fruit section faded into the background. Flowers waved goodbye. Somewhere nearby, fish snacks were sizzling, crackling, whispering my name.
I followed the scent with dignity and very fast feet.
🏮 Night Market Vigil (Shrimp Watch, Level: Expert)
Night markets change everything. The lights glow softer, shadows stretch longer, and snacks become braver.
I sat still, watching steam rise and lanterns sway. Somewhere, shrimp were being fried. Somewhere closer than before. I did not pounce. I am not reckless. I observed. Patiently. Professionally.

This is what travel teaches you: sometimes the joy is not in catching the snack, but in believing you might.
Also, blinking slowly at strangers makes them give you extra treats. This is universal.
🌿 Into the Jungle (Curiosity Engaged)
The jungle did not announce itself. It simply opened.
Green layered over green, sounds stacked on sounds. Something chirped. Something else rustled. I placed each paw carefully, pretending I was very brave, which usually works.

Every step felt like entering a story that had been waiting for me. The air was thick with mystery and bugs who had opinions about my presence.
I kept going anyway. Curiosity is heavier than fear, but much easier to carry.
🐅 The Tiger Friend (Yes, Really)
I met a tiger.
Before you panic: he was calm. Respectful. Large, yes — but polite about it. We walked side by side for a moment, both pretending this was completely normal.
I did not try to be impressive. He did not try to be scary. We shared a look that said, “You’re smaller, but you’re doing great.”
When we parted, I felt taller somehow. Still small. But taller on the inside.

🌸 A Nap Turned Dream (Bird Mode Activated)
After the jungle, I needed a nap. A proper one.
I curled up, eyes closing, and suddenly I was no longer a cat. I was a tiny bird, tucked into a nest made of orchids. The petals glowed softly, cradling me like a secret.

I didn’t fly. I didn’t need to. I simply existed, warm and safe, listening to the world breathe.
Dreams, I’ve learned, are just travel without moving.
🐘 A Small Elephant, a Big Ride (On the Way to Krabi)
I don’t usually hitch rides. Cats are very capable walkers, thank you very much. But sometimes the world offers you something so unexpected and polite that saying no would feel rude. This was one of those moments. A baby elephant looked at me with kind eyes, bent his head just a little, and somehow I understood: “Hop on, little friend.”

His skin felt warm and wrinkly, like a moving memory. As he walked, the jungle swayed gently around us, leaves whispering secrets I wasn’t allowed to repeat. I held on with my paws and tried not to look like this was the best taxi service I had ever used.
We didn’t talk much. We didn’t need to. The elephant hummed softly while walking, and I listened with my whole chest. I wondered how someone so big could be so careful where he placed his feet.
When Krabi finally appeared, with its salty air and distant waves, I slid down, bowed politely (as one does), and waved goodbye. He flicked his ears and went back into the green. I still think about him when the ground feels extra steady.
🪨 Rock Perching, Expert Level (Krabi Beach)
Beaches are suspicious places. Too open. Too wet. Too many noises pretending to be harmless. So I found a rock. A very good rock. High enough to feel safe, close enough to smell the sea, and far enough from the water to avoid any… incidents.
I sat there like a professional thinker, tail wrapped neatly around my paws. The waves sparkled, but I did not trust them. They looked playful. Playful things cannot be trusted.

Still, the air was warm and kind, and the sun felt like it had chosen me personally. I watched humans laugh, birds argue, and crabs scuttle sideways as if embarrassed by their own design.
From my rock, the world felt balanced. Not too big. Not too loud. Just right for a traveling cat who needed a moment to simply be.
🥥 Coconut Ice Cream (I Ascended)
I did not know ice cream could be made from coconuts. I did not know coconuts could be this generous. I did not know happiness could be cold.
The bowl was placed in front of me like an offering. I leaned in carefully, because life has taught me that good things sometimes disappear if you trust them too quickly. But it stayed. It waited. It respected me.
One lick turned into another. The beach blurred. The sound of waves softened. Somewhere far away, my worries took a nap without me.

If enlightenment exists, it tastes exactly like coconut ice cream eaten slowly by a cat who has nowhere else to be.
🌅 Krabi Sunset, or: When the Sky Decides to Show Off
I have seen many sunsets. I am well-traveled. But this one felt personal.
The sky stretched into colors I don’t have names for. Gold melted into pink, pink leaned into purple, and the sea reflected it all like it was proud to be included. I sat very still, because some moments don’t like movement.

Boats drifted quietly, as if they too understood this was not the time for splashing. Even my tail behaved.
I thought about how far I had come, and how strange it was that a small cat could feel so full without carrying anything at all.
🛶 Accidental Market Assistant (Damnoen Saduak)
One moment I was on a boat. The next, I was helping sell fruit and flowers. Life moves fast like that.
The market floated around me, colorful and busy, smells bumping into each other like excited kittens. Mangoes, bananas, flowers, something fried that smelled very interesting. I sat proudly near the baskets, supervising.

Humans smiled and pointed. Some asked if I was for sale. I was not. But I did allow photos in exchange for admiration.
If you need fruit, flowers, or a calm presence while bargaining, I am apparently very qualified.
🪷 The Golden Buddha Friend
I did not climb. I did not pose. I simply sat.
The golden Buddha looked peaceful in a way that felt contagious. I curled close, careful not to disturb the quiet. For a while, nothing happened — and that was the point.

I thought about stillness. About how traveling doesn’t always mean moving. Sometimes it means learning how to pause properly.
We didn’t speak, but I think he approved of my posture.
🌄 Saying Goodbye Is Also a Skill
Leaving is harder than arriving. You don’t know that at first.
I looked back at the golden Buddha one last time, the light soft around us both. I felt grateful. Not loud grateful — the quiet kind that settles behind the ribs.

Thailand had given me warmth, kindness, strange friendships, and excellent snacks. I pressed those memories carefully into my heart, where they would not spill.
Goodbye does not mean gone. It just means carried.
