Why make a Felini NFT Collection?
Felini the Kitty cat NFTs? What does NFT stand for anyways? Nifty Felini Turbofluff? YEEES! …but also Non Fungible Tokens (read more on wikipedia).
Felini is truly one of a kind. His face was missing from the NFT space – you won’t find any other kitty cat that has Felini’s zest and realistic kittyness! And now that the environmental concerns have been addressed, let’s just have some fun and make some Felini online art! 😺
So what is a Felini kitty cat NFT then? Basically it’s a fun way to secure your very own Felini image (this is what NFT means, that the ownership of a particular image can be verified), collect mutiple images and even trade them… Well, if there was something like Felini NFTs. There is not. Not YET! But the view stats of this Felini sticker got me thinking:

Ok, I get it – it does sound worthwhile – let’s create some NFTs based on those stickers… One more question though: What about traditional merchandise?
Why not just sell t-shirts and mugs?
Besides the love for the creation of Felini imagery, here`s a few reasons why I decided to put my kitty cat on the blockchain. Don`t get me wrong – I love lots of things old school 😺 So definitely get some t-shirts and mugs if you feel like it!
However, getting a Felini NFT is a great idea, too. One advantage of getting an NFT over traditional merchandise is that it’s yours forever and it can’t wear off or drop to pieces. Also the value might increase over time, which rarely happens with shirts or mugs. And the carbon footprint can be lower with NFTs compared to sending merchandise around the globe (only when using an efficient blockchain that is – see below) Here`s a little comparison from the Spring.com website comparing support for creators now and back then:
These are a few good reasons to consider supporting Felini and his mission via getting an NFT 😺
All right, I´m almost sold – but I have heard bad things about NFTs not being eco friendly. Is that true?
What about the Environment?
Isn’t Felini supposed to care about the environment, a world where we and the big cats thrive? I have heard some blockchains and thus NFTs are a huge waste of energy = polluting out planet!
Yes and no. At the moment it is indeed the case that the most used blockchain called Etherium is very inefficient in storing the NFT information – slow and very wasteful re energy consumtion: So called ‘miners’, well mostly their graphics cards have to solve complicated equasions in order to make the system work. Unfortunately the same riddle is handed out to a huge number of miners and only one of them ‘wins’ the reward, rendering all the other efforts (and energy spent) useless 😾 There are updates planned to this popular blockchain, but Felini won’t wait for that:
Felini’s NFTs are only going to be stored on (minted) more eco friendly and efficient blockchains like (Polygon or) Solana. 😇🌞😺 These have different underlying mechanisms (proof-of-stake vs proof-of-work) that enable them to be way faster, cost less and even become carbon neutral. 😽🌎

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a non-interchangeable unit of data (e.g. an image or video). Because each token is uniquely identifiable, NFT ledgers can provide a public certificate of authenticity or proof of ownership. This means that you can get your very own unique Felini kitty cat image, that`s proven to be your and yours only. Read more on Wikipedia about Non Fungible Tokens for details on how this works.
So basically it’s a fun way to secure your very own Felini image, collect mutiple images and even trade them if you wanted.
Well then, what do we need to turn this funny sticker into a whole awesome line of NFT images? A few nice variants with different cat eyes, cat ears, meowy mouths, uniue items kitty cats love as well as spacious backgrounds… Let’s do it!
Making of Funny Kitty Cat Faces
Let`s dive right into the making of Felini’s Kitty cat NFTs. Spotlight on the creation of digtial kitty images – work in progress: First, we fire up the 3D animation software of your -well- my choice (Maya) and get started with blocking in some facial poses on our beloved digital kitty cat (thanks for the intial model & groom Pete).
Uuups, sorry Felini, I think I completely broke the rig. Apologies to Oyvind too, who created this awesome character rig for Felini I`ve been using for almost 10 years now. Ok, let’s give this another try… Ah, looking way better now:
The video shows a few cute and funny kitty heads, some have been used for the free Sticker pack, too. Don’t forget to slap on some fur and whiskers and hit render to move forward with all the different poses.
Now we’re slicing the faces into parts in Photoshop to enable random layer creation:
Ok, now we have to do a few little boring things with code – I spare you the images. Thanks heaps to hashlips for creating an art engine!
So that’s half a year of tinkering condensed into a minute read 😸 Now we are just adding them back together – with some pretty funny, cute and crazy kitty cat images emerging. I hope you like them as much as I do.
